The mission of (c) Management, Inc. (CMI), is to provide trusted and dynamic management services for associations, foundations, and non-profits in the healthcare field. The Association of Community Cancer Centers is (c ) Management, Inc.’s largest client. We are currently seeking a dynamic Controller to join our team of professionals!

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a leader with the potential to move into a Chief Financial Officer position within two years. Meanwhile, the Controller will lead all day to day Accounting activities for (c) Management, Inc. (CMI), the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) and the Association's chapters (Societies). The Controller will supervise two staff members responsible for the preparation of the bi-monthly payroll and monthly financial statements for CMI and ACCC and quarterly statements for Societies. The Controller will be involved in supporting presentations to ACCC’s Board of Trustees and audit and investment committees. S/he will work closely with the senior leadership team.

The Controller’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain internal control procedures and safeguards
  • Coordinate all audit/review/tax preparation activity
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; keep senior leadership abreast of CMI’s and ACCC’s financial status
  • Track and manage CMI’s cash flow
  • Prepare CMI’s annual budget and as the year progresses, update and maintain a current forecast
  • Compare actual numbers to budget and identify and explain variances as needed for both CMI and ACCC
  • Review agreements with both funders and vendors to ensure both CMI’s and clients’ interests are protected
  • Manage and track invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines
  • Leverage strengths of all members of the current accounting staff members, including accounting assistants, to help clarify roles and responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in maintaining internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Actively participate in assigned “Core Group” (internal project teams)
  • Provide assistance and support for other CMI and association-related activities to maintain an informed, efficient, and timely workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will hold an Accounting degree. S/he must have a strong working knowledge of accounting principles and possess the ability to work with outside auditors, association leadership, senior leadership, and bankers. Understanding of payroll requirements and processing is also a requisite. The individual will have experience managing/supervising Accounting staff and developing their knowledge/skill sets. The individual must possess excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often with rigid deadlines. The individual should have strong written and oral communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients and a broad variety of outside vendors. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to CMI and its clients is required.

Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten-years of relevant experience. A CPA and/or MBA is preferred. Experience with non-profit accounting is desirable but not necessary. Experience must include management experience, analytical skills, and prior work with financial statement preparation. Must possess at least one-year experience in either processing payroll or managing someone who processes payroll.

Skills:

  • S/he must be technologically savvy including proficiency in Excel and Word, researching accounting systems and overseeing installations. S/he should have keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability and desire to translate financial concepts to individuals at all levels including accounting and non-accounting manager.
