POSITION SUMMARY
The Director, Cancer Care Delivery & Health Policy will play a key role in advocating and innovating in support of a sustainable cancer care ecosystem that delivers high-quality, affordable, and equitable care to patients across the country. Together with engaged volunteer leadership and committed professional staff, the Director, Cancer Care Delivery & Health Policy will work to:
- Improve cancer care delivery in all settings with emphasis on rural, urban, and under-resourced cancer programs. To this end, the Director will build upon existing provider resources by identifying unmet needs and developing innovative strategies and tools to support membership in an evolving healthcare environment.
- Support the oncology workforce so that all professionals involved in caring for patients with cancer maximize their contribution to care delivery. In collaboration with ACCC’s strong provider network, the Director will advocate for a stable and resilient cancer care workforce in all regions of the country, engaging other clinical disciplines and patient stakeholders in this effort.
- Transform reimbursement for cancer care delivery so that the needs of both patients and professionals are met. In a transitioning healthcare environment, this will require input on and cultivation of innovative payment models that ensure access to care is preserved, while also working to retain adequate coverage and payment under the current reimbursement system.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead federal health policy and advocacy strategy on behalf of and in conjunction with association clients.
- Represent client policy priorities and positions accurately and effectively in front of a wide variety of high-level stakeholders (elected officials, government employees, industry partners, and others).
- Develop policy positions to author comments on proposed rulemaking and advocacy letters to members of Congress and the Administration on behalf of clients.
- Facilitate meetings with and work collaboratively with member volunteers, other provider organizations, and patient advocacy groups to increase engagement in federal and state advocacy.
- Present health policy and Medicare reimbursement updates on ACCC webinars and at live conferences.
- Research, evaluate, and monitor developments in health policy affecting the oncology workforce, cancer care delivery, reimbursement, and patient access.
- Report on federal advocacy and cancer care delivery activities and initiatives to ACCC Executive Committee and Board of Trustees quarterly.
- Serve as staff liaison to ACCC Governmental Affairs Committee and its three subcommittees, facilitating monthly meetings with agendas, slides, and other materials, and handling all follow-up activities.
- Project manage departmental initiatives and deliverables, producing high-quality materials, and providing excellent customer service along the way.
- Write blogs, journal articles, and other member-facing updates on policy and care delivery-related topics.
- Create one-pagers and other resources to help educate members on federal and state policy topics.
- Actively participate in CORE Groups—contributing ideas, expertise, and collaborative effort on a wide range of company initiatives and activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience level.
- Five to seven years of experience working in a health care delivery system, association, professional society, or related field.
- Two to four years of experience working in a health policy or healthcare advocacy setting preferred.
SKILLS:
- Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Proven ability to provide valuable insights and logical explanations when faced with difficult compliance questions.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and articulate all relevant perspectives.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Knowledgeable in various software applications including MS Teams, Workfront, Cadmium LMS; direct experience with Fonteva or Salesforce preferred.
- Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully both independently and as part of a team.
