POSITION SUMMARY
As a key member of the Clinical Affairs department, the Grant Writer/Content Coordinator will work collaboratively to produce timely, high-quality grant applications on behalf of CMI clients. This role is also responsible for assisting members of the Clinical Affairs department with the writing, review, and/or editing of a variety of client summary deliverables (e.g., project outcomes reports, abstracts). In addition, the Grant Writer/Content Coordinator will assist with linking funding opportunities with identified clients’ needs assessments and educational gaps.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production of requested aspects of grant preparation to ensure complete, accurate, timely, high-quality submission that conforms with requirements of potential funders.
- Collaboratively generate/review questions for members’ needs assessment, pre-/post-activity assessment, landscape analyses, etc. sections of grant applications.
- Assist with creation of multi-year program budgets, implementation timelines and deliverables, evaluation plans, and quantifiable goals and objectives.
- Participate in education project kick-off meetings and Advisory Committee calls as needed.
- Write and/or edit a variety of client deliverables including project outcomes reports, project summary manuscripts and/or abstracts, webpage language, and web session transcripts (inclusive of mark-up for audio edits and slide synchronization).
- Critically analyze current program and project activities to identify opportunities to grow clients’ educational portfolio and partner with external stakeholders.
- Independently link funding opportunities and leverage opportunities with CMI clients’ identified educational and advocacy needs.
- Travel to Rockville, MD headquarters, select national oncology meetings, and/or funder/sponsor meetings no more than 20% of time.
- Autonomously acquire, maintain, and expand knowledge of oncology industry-related topics, current events, and policy updates that impact CMI clients’ work.
- Develops synergies between departments as it pertains to organizational programming and maintains communication across functions.
- Actively participate in cross-departmental CORE Group—contributing ideas, expertise, and collaborative effort on a wide range of activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 3+ years of experience in medical or scientific writing for publications, reports, or grant submissions.
- Master’s Degree highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently based on highly effective project management skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
